DRDO and Indian Army successfully test Pinaka Mk-I enhanced rocket systemAll the rockets met the test objectives satisfactorily, which enabled the rockets to meet the accuracy and consistency requirements. With the completion of these trails, the first phase of the technology absorption of EPRS by the industry has been completed and the industry partners are ready for user trials or series production of the rocket system.

Pinaka rocket system has been developed by the Armament Research and Development Establishment, Pune, with support from the High Energy Materials Research Laboratory, another DRDO laboratory located in Pune. Developed by the Indian Army, the EPRS is an upgraded variant of the Pinaka which has been in service with the Indian Army for the past decade.

Technology upgrades have enhanced the range to meet emerging requirements. Munitions India Limited MIL and Economic Explosives Limited Nagpur received the technology after Pinaka’s enhanced range version proved to be highly efficient. During this campaign, MIL rockets were developed under a technology transfer agreement with DRDO. At the Pokhran Field Firing Range, munitions for the Pinaka rocket system were also successfully tested.
